About

Re-story.me is a space for sound and writing concerned with listening, time, and meaning.

The work presented here explores how carefully designed sonic environments can alter attention and pace, creating conditions in which experience may reorganize itself. It does not treat sound as a solution, a treatment, or a source of authority. It treats sound as a medium that shapes how time is felt and how inner narratives are held.

This project sits at the intersection of sound design, ethnomusicology, and reflective practice. It draws on long-standing cultural understandings of sound as something that accompanies transition, grief, and change, while remaining grounded in contemporary listening contexts shaped by isolation, technology, and interior life.

What this work is not

Re-story.me is not a therapeutic service, a spiritual program, or a method for self-improvement.

No diagnoses are made here.

No outcomes are promised.

Nothing offered here replaces medical, psychological, or communal care.

Listening is understood as an active, voluntary act. The listener remains the agent at all times, including the choice to stop, pause, or disengage.

On restraint

Because sound can influence attention and emotional state, this work is guided by restraint.

It avoids claims it cannot support, language that creates dependency, or frames that imply hidden expertise. The intention is not to lead, instruct, or persuade, but to offer spaces in which listening can occur without pressure.

If the work is successful, it should increase tolerance for silence and ambiguity rather than reduce it.

About the author

This work is created by an ethnomusicologist, sound designer, multi-instrumentalist, and Emmy Award-Winning sound engineer with a long-standing interest in how sound shapes emotional life and narrative meaning.

The focus is not on self-expression, but on careful design and ethical responsibility. Personal experience informs the work, but it is not presented as evidence or instruction.

A note on pace

This project develops slowly.

Writing and listening pieces are published when they are ready, not according to a schedule. The aim is coherence rather than completeness, and depth rather than accumulation.

If you are looking for certainty, guidance, or quick resolution, this may not be the right place.

If you are willing to listen without promise, you are welcome here.
